Blood is essential to
the human body; it circulates
round the body delivering oxygen, food, hormones, and other essential
substances, also extracting carbon dioxide and other waste products. |
It consists of a
colorless liquid called plasma in
which floats red cells, white cells, very small cells and water.
The plasma is a vehicle for the transport of the body's important fuels
such as glucose and basic fats. Other substances that are carried in the
plasma include iron, which is essential for the formation of the
oxygen-carrying pigment haemoglobin, and a number of important hormones.
Plasma therefore consists of a water solution of minerals, food and
small amounts of essential compounds such as hormones, plus one other
essential component - protein, that makes up a major part. |

It emphasizes the importance of "Blood Viscosity" in the human
body and is similar to the quality of car engine oil. When the oil
quality of a car engine is good, the pistons will perform smoothly
without much stress. Similarly, when the "Blood Viscosity" is
normal, the heart will not be under stress.
However, when the blood viscosity is "thicker" than normal, not
only will it carry less oxygen but the heart will have to pump much harder in order to circulate the blood
round the whole system, thereby stressing the heart. When the blood viscosity is "thinner" than normal, it carries less oxygen content. Under both conditions,
one will tire easily. |
| (A) | If thicker blood viscosity | ||
| (1) | The blood carries less oxygen contents, resulting in one feeling or getting tired easily. |
| (2) | Vulnerable to become diabetic if one consumes excessive sugary food. | ||
| (3) | Vulnerable to developing high blood pressure (hypertension), if one consumes excessive salty food. |
| (4) | Vulnerable to developing various skin diseases. | ||
| (5) | The blood is dark reddish in color as compared to normal bright red. | ||
| (6) | The heart will be stressed because it will have to pump harder to circulate the blood. |
| NOTE:
AVOID RED MEAT UNDER
SUCH CIRCUMSTANCE
| (B) | If thinner blood viscosity | ||
| (1) | The blood carries less oxygen, resulting in one feeling dizzy. | ||
| (2) | Symptoms similar to anemia. | ||
| (3) | The blood is light red in color. | ||
| NOTE:
EATING RED MEAT IS HELPFUL UNDER
SUCH CIRCUMSTANCE

| Drinking "Catfish Soup" and having a balanced diet. | |||
| Advantages: | |||
| (1) | The bones marrow will produce "new healthy blood cells". | ||
| (2) | The new blood cells will gradually regulate the blood within the system, that is, return the blood viscosity to normal either from thicker or thinner conditions. |
Ingredient |
| (1) | Catfish (about 500 to 650 gm.) | ||
| (2) | Dry black beans (150gm.) | ||
| (3) | Few slices of fresh ginger (to kill off the fishy smell) | ||
| (4) | 4.5 litres of water
| Cooking Method | |||
| (1) | Clean the fish with cooking salt and hot water. | ||
| (2) | Remove the guts. | ||
| (3) | Dry roast the black beans for 10 minutes over low heat (do not burn the beans). | ||
| (4) | Put cleaned fish, roasted beans, sliced ginger and 4.5 litres of water into a big saucepan. |
| (5) | Boil for two and a half hours (initially high heat for about 30 minutes then followed by medium heat). |
| (6) | Add salt to taste. | ||
| (7) | Strain contents and drink soup only.
| Note:
Separating the fish meat from the bones
after 30 minutes of boiling will result in a better taste.
| Frequency | |||
| Once a month for the whole family.
Drinking Guava Juice on a regular basis, say once a week will help to reduce cholesterol level. |
Eating the following will help to eradicate some of the toxic within the body system: |
| (1) | Broccoli | ||
| (2) | Varieties of Mushrooms (preferably fresh mushroom) | ||
| (3) | Watercress - either stir fried or in salad form. | ||
| (4) | "Kam Cham" - Chinese type of fungus, stir fry with vegetables. | ||

Cod liver oil contains the following:-
EPA Eicosapentaenoic Acid DHA Docosahexaenoic Acid |
| Main Functions | ||||
| (1) |
It is an important component of all cell membranes (the "skin" of cells), hence important in the healthy functioning of all cells in the body, particularly the cells of the heart and the brain. |
| (2) | It is the body's natural anti-inflammatory "drug". | |||
| (3) | Help to balance the levels of triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood. | |||
| Often help to reverse symptoms | ||||
| (1) | High blood triglycerides | |||
| (2) | High blood pressure | |||
| (3) | Sticky platelets | |||
| (4) | Inflammation in tissues e.g. joints, bowel | |||
| (5) | Depression, schizophrenia, dyslexia. (clinical studies are on-going) | |||
| Deficiency causes | ||||
| (1) | Growth retardation | |||
| (2) | Behavioral changes | |||
| (3) | Impaired vision and learning | |||
| Can be also obtained from | ||||
| (1) | Oily fish such as mackerel, sardines, herring, tuna and salmon.. | |||
| (2) | Omega-3 enriched eggs. | |||

| Main functions | ||||
| (1) | Important for bone growth. | |||
| (2) | Responsible for night vision | |||
| (3) | Maintain healthy skin | |||
| (4) | Maintain immune functions | |||
| Deficiency causes | ||||
| (1) |
Cause night blindness due to the effects on the retina and also causes dryness and thickening the surface of the cornea. |
| (2) | Diminishes ability to fight infections. | |||

Most of Vitamin A is acquired from "carotene", which is converted to vitamin A in our body and easily obtained from yellow/green fruits and vegetables. |
| Main functions | ||||
| (1) | Maintain a normal blood level of calcium and phosphorus | |||
| (2) | Regulates Calcium absorption | |||
| (3) | Promotes bone mineralization. | |||
| Deficiency causes | ||||
| (1) |
Insufficient Vitamin D in a child will lead to improper growth, hardening of bones, failure of mineralization within growing cartilage at the ends of bone and the weak new bones are prone to deformity, a condition called rickets. |
| (2) |
In adults, inadequate mineralization causes weak bones and the condition is called osteomalacia. |
| (3) |
Insufficient sunlight will prevent conversion of 7-dehydrocholesterol in the skin to Vitamin D. |
| Can be also obtained from | ||||
| (1) | Fish | |||
| (2) | Eggs | |||
| (3) | Liver | |||

| (1) | Caused by thicker blood viscosity (click here for more information) | ||
| (2) | Caused by narrowing of the Arteries | ||
For those suffering from such symptom, a doctor normally prescribes drugs to either slow down the heart-beat or thin the blood but with some side effects as consequences: |
| (a) | Reduction in circulation of blood would cause coldness in limbs. | ||
| (b) | One would get tiredness easily. | ||
| (c) | Could be addiction to the drugs for life. | ||

Drinking cranberry juice periodically will help to cleanse the
kidney system. The kidney organs help to filter liquid waste products that are passed in the form of urine down the tubes to the bladder.
Drinking plenty of plain water on a regular basis (minimum of 3 litres
per day) will also help to maintain a clean healthy system.
